Why does my antivirus flag THGLApp.exe or THGLUpdater.exe as a threat?

Some antivirus tools, especially Kaspersky, can falsely flag THGLApp.exe or THGLUpdater.exe as malware.
These detections are false positives. You can confirm by uploading the file to VirusTotal, where it is usually only flagged by a single vendor.
I am working with antivirus vendors to resolve these reports, but they can be triggered by harmless details like the PNG icon in the installer or the updater's hidden command line.
