I get 'Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is unavailable' error. How do I fix this?

This error occurs when the Companion App cannot access the WebView2 UserData folder due to incorrect permissions.

How to fix:

  1. Close the Companion App completely

  2. Open File Explorer and navigate to: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\The Hidden Gaming Lair\UserData

    Replace <YourUsername> with your Windows username.

  3. Right-click the UserData folder → Properties

  4. Go to the Security tab

  5. Click Edit → Add

  6. Type Everyone and click Check Names → OK

  7. Select Everyone in the list

  8. Check Full Control under Allow

  9. Click Apply → OK

  10. Restart the Companion App
