So a little known vulnerability in base building is the distance from a pvp zone. I have not tested this myself, but I do trust the source. Apparently, if your base is within a certain distance from a PVP zone whether it is north past halfway through E Row, near a Green Shipwreck, or a Landsraad Control Point it is in danger of being raided in the deep desert. When a sandstorm hits, raiders can fly from one of those zones to your base in a PVE area and get into your base if that countdown timer is still active. (Again I have not Tested this). So having a wider maybe orange area under drawing next to the security zones to account for that would be useful. I am not sure on the speed of the fastest vehicles, so I don't know how far out those zone would need to be. This may also be possible in Hagga using the green shipwrecks there, but only if the base does not have power.
