Question

Everyday, the THGL Updater is asking for permission to start upon Windows startup. Is this expected behavior?

@Dunk Dinkle No, that shouldn't happen. The app updates itself in the background without asking, and we release new versions almost every day. You only get a Windows permission prompt when the background helper that does that update isn't working on your PC, so the update has to ask instead. To see why, could you send a debug snapshot? In the app, open the menu (☰ in the top bar, next to the account icon), click the bug icon ("Send Debug Snapshot"), enter your Discord username, write "updater asks for permission", and send it. I'll look at it and reply here.

@Dunk Dinkle Thanks for the snapshot, it showed exactly what was going on. Right after Windows starts, the app found the new version before the background helper that updates it without asking was ready, so it asked you for permission instead. I fixed that in Companion App 19.1.15, which is out now. The app now waits until it can update quietly. The update to 19.1.15 itself may still ask you one last time, since your current version does that update. After that, the daily prompt should be gone. **Did this solve it for you?** Tap a button below, or just reply here.
